{"id":6311,"date":"2018-11-04T17:22:02","date_gmt":"2018-11-04T22:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/resources.evans-legal.com\/?p=6311"},"modified":"2018-11-04T17:22:02","modified_gmt":"2018-11-04T22:22:02","slug":"retirement-limitations-increased-for-cost-of-living-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.evans-legal.com\/?p=6311","title":{"rendered":"Retirement Limitations Increased for Cost-of-Living Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Internal Revenue Revenue has announced cost-of-living changes to limitations on benefits and contributions for retirement plans in 2019.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/links.govdelivery.com\/track?type=click&amp;enid=ZWFzPTEmbWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTgxMTAxLjk3MDI5ODcxJm1lc3NhZ2VpZD1NREItUFJELUJVTC0yMDE4MTEwMS45NzAyOTg3MSZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPTEwMDEmc2VyaWFsPTE3MjE0NjI3JmVtYWlsaWQ9ZGFuQGV2YW5zLWxlZ2FsLmNvbSZ1c2VyaWQ9ZGFuQGV2YW5zLWxlZ2FsLmNvbSZmbD0mZXh0cmE9TXVsdGl2YXJpYXRlSWQ9JiYm&amp;&amp;&amp;117&amp;&amp;&amp;https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-drop\/n-18-83.pdf\">Notice 2018-83<\/a>, 2018-47 I.R.B. ___ (11\/19\/2018).<\/p>\n<p>Among the most common limitations are the following changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The contribution limit for employees who participate in 401(k), 403(b), most 457 plans, and the federal government\u2019s Thrift Savings Plan is increased from $18,500 to $19,000.<\/li>\n<li>The limit on annual contributions to an IRA, which last increased in 2013, is increased from $5,500 to $6,000.<\/li>\n<li>The income phase-out range for taxpayers making contributions to a Roth IRA is $122,000 to $137,000 for singles and heads of household, up from $120,000 to $135,000. For married\u00a0couples filing jointly, the income phase-out range is $193,000 to $203,000, up from $189,000 to $199,000.
