Department of Revenue recently posted the following on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revenue.pa.gov\/Pages\/AlertDetails.aspx\">its website<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to the recent closing of commonwealth and county office\nbuildings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Revenue is\naware that taxpayers have been unable to meet their Inheritance Tax filing and\npayment obligations. To address these concerns, the department is asking County\nRegister of Wills offices to implement the following procedures when their\noperations resume:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c* If a taxpayer is filing a return or making a payment and\nindicates that either was due during the timeframe that offices were closed,\nplease place a date received as of March 12, 2020, on the return and the\nreceipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c* In addition, the department is making system\nmodifications to not apply penalties for payments received late, that otherwise\nwould have been timely during office closures.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pa.
